Ultra Guard Waterbased Polyurethane

Our Friends at Fusion have done it again with this new, industry leading waterbased polyurethane, Ultra Guard! 

This unique formula provides incredible protection against wear and tear, while also offering effortless application.  Ultra Guard glides on easily with a synthetic brush or microfibre roller - and because its self levelling, there are no brush marks.  This makes it as easy to use for a first time painter as it is for a seasoned pro.  

This is a high quality waterbased polyurethane-acrylic protective varnish that is reinforced with silica giving it unparalleled durability and resistance to abrasion.  Odourless and non-yellowing, it maintains the integrity and vibrancy of your original finish (painted or wood) over time.  And the best part?  Ultra Guard is formulated to eliminate common issues such as clouding and streaking.  This ensures a clear, smooth finish that enhances the richness and depth of colour - perfect for dark colours!

Versatile Application: Suitable for interior water-based paints and all types of bare wood.

Enhances Colour: While applied goes on whitish and dries transparent, enhancing both light and dark colours.

Application Instructions:

1. Prepare the Surface:

   • Painted Surfaces: Clean and degrease with TSP Alternative. Wait 24-48 hours after painting before applying.
   • Bare Wood: Sand smooth with 120-grit sandpaper, ensuring it's free from wax and contaminants. Remove dust before application.

2. Mixing:

   • Mix thoroughly with a stick and wait 20 minutes before applying.

3. Application:

   • Use a synthetic bristle brush or a microfiber roller. Sand lightly with 220-grit sandpaper between coats.

Number of Coats:

• Painted Surfaces: 2 coats recommended.
• Bare Wood & Non-Sealing Stains: 3 coats for optimal protection.

Drying Times:

• Between Coats: Allow 3 to 48 hours. After 48 hours, lightly sand before the next coat.
• Bare Wood: Apply the second coat after 3 hours without sanding.
• Before Sanding: Wait 6 to 8 hours before sanding for a smooth finish.
