Shipping policy

 

We want your Home Smith pieces to arrive safely and beautifully, no matter where you are. Please take a moment to review our current shipping information before placing your order.

Domestic Shipping (Within Canada)

Orders within Canada are shipped from our Toronto location via trusted carriers (these include Fed Ex, UPS, Canpar, ICS, Purolator among others).

  • Processing Time: Most in-stock items ship within 1 -2 business days.  Any items that require custom orders from the manufacturer have longer time frames and you will receive an order confirmation with detailed information on delivery time lines.
  • Shipping Rates: Rates are calculated at checkout based on size, weight, and destination.  Any products that have special shipping rates, such as our Fusion Paint Products and Adama Vinyl Rugs, will have specifics included in the product details.  
  • Delivery Times: Typically 1–5 business days within major centres; rural areas may take a little longer.
  • Local Pickup: Available at our Toronto store at your convenience (select this option at checkout).

Once your order is ready to ship, you will receive a notification email that includes your tracking information so that you can monitor the delivery of your parcel.

Shipping to the United States

We love sending our collections south of the border, and we continue to ship to the United States — but there are a few important details to note:

  • Restricted Products:  Some items in our collection cannot be shipped to the U.S. due to import regulations or carrier limitations.  At this time, we are unable to ship Fusion Mineral Paint and all associated paint products to the US due to attestation requirements and complex regulations.  We continue to monitor the situation and hope to be able to ship this amazing Canadian product to our American friends once again in the future.
  • Tariffs and Customs Fees: While many of our Canadian made products qualify under CUSMA and are not subject to tariffs, we do carry a great number of products made in other countries.  When we ship those products to the U.S. they are subject to the U.S. import tariffs or customs fees associated with the originating country.   Our carriers in the US have recently changed their import requirements and any tariffs, customs and broker fees must be pre-paid when we ship your order.
    Due to their complex nature, these fees cannot be calculated automatically at checkout and your shipping charges represents our best estimate of these charges.  As a result, we may have to contact you post purchase for any substantial shortfall (or overpayment) in our calculation.  To avoid any surprises, if you have a large order (in size or value) please get in touch with us prior to purchase so that we can provide you with an accurate quote. 
  • Delivery Times: Most U.S. orders arrive within 5–14 business days, depending on the destination and customs processing times.  Currently, US Customs has a substantial backlog due to all the recent changes and delivery times may be extended.  We will provide tracking details once your order has shipped so that you can monitor delivery of your package. 
  • And one more note:  We’re so grateful for our community across the border and truly appreciate your understanding as we navigate evolving shipping regulations.

International Shipping (Outside Canada & the U.S.)

At this time, we are only able to ship within Canada and to the United States.
If you are outside these regions and interested in a specific item, please contact us — we may be able to arrange a custom shipment on request.

Damages and Issues

We take great care in packing and shipping your order, but if your item arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us at hello@HomeSmithHouse.com within 48 hours of receipt with photos of the issue. We’ll make it right as quickly as possible.

We do need customers to be aware that there are some limitations to what we can fix. 

  • Incorrectly entered shipping information
  • Packages left, stolen, or missing from an unreliable or unsafe delivery location

If you have concerns about delivery safety, we recommend selecting a secure shipping address (such as a workplace or alternate address) where someone is available to receive your parcel.
