No matter how carefully your artificial greenery or floral is packed into its box, chances are it has been compressed for travel.  Here are some quick and easy tips on how to make the most of your faux floral and have it look as beautiful as it does in our shop!

  1. Unbox and Separate the Pieces: If it’s a piece with multiple branches or stems, gently separate them as they can get tangled.  Pulling too hard can result in a loss of leaves or other details, but have no fear, those lost pieces can be re-attached.
  2. Shake It Out: Lightly shake the greenery to give it a little bounce to loosen up any compacted areas.  This, along with some time to rest, is all a lot of high-quality floral requires as it settles into shape.
  3. Adjust the Stems: For larger pieces, bend the stems a bit to give the greenery a fuller, more natural appearance. Don’t force anything if it feels stiff; just gently move them to break up the compactness.  Gently work any branches to rotate around the stem dimensionally - we want the piece to look as natural as possible and the stems or branches should not all be angled in just one or two directions.
  4. Fluff the greenery: Using your hands, gently “fluff” or spread out the leaves or pieces. (in the case of holiday greenery). If there are any tight spots where the leaves are folded or crushed, carefully bend them back into a natural shape.
  5. Use a Blow Dryer or hand steamer, if needed: If the piece is very creased or compressed, you can use a blow dryer on a low heat setting to warm it up.  Hold the dryer a few inches away to avoid damaging the material and shape it with your fingers.  For silk floral, a hand steamer is a great way to plump up your petals and leaves and make your stems look like the real thing.  (Just be careful not to burn yourself!)
  6. Let It Settle: Once you’ve fluffed everything, give it a little time to settle into its new shape. Sometimes after a day or so, the leaves will look even better as they naturally fall into place.

PRO TIP:  You want your greenery to fall as naturally as possible, so don’t be afraid to gently bend and fluff the stems once you’ve placed them in your container.  For the most organic look, some stems should flop over the edge, some should stand up straight and leaves should face different directions.

And that’s it!  Never underestimate just how much better your floral will look with just a little bit of attention - it’s worth it.
